The updates! they just keep comming!
The last big thing that has gone down recently has been the platform at 4 Quaters. I missed out two weeks ago on getitng up there to help do teh posts and holes, but Felix and I both managed to get up for this last weekend.
We arrived about 11ish on Friday, wolf and crew got there sometime afterwords. Things got off to a slow start since several of the holes were in the wrong spots. But we eventualy got it all corrected and then got started on the meat an poatatos of it. We for the rim joists and 1/3 of the joists up feiday before we called it quits and headded to the hotel and then hancock for some food and supplies.
Saturday I was the first up due to the sun shining in.. we got all packed up and so froth and by 10ish we were fed and back on site. We had a bit mroe help this day and after a little bit of waking up we got it into high gear; managing to complet all but 5 boards of the entire 300 square foot structure.
So, this next weekend we;re going back up to put the last of the deck boards down, since we ran out with 5 to go. A few lan bolts and screws and the whole thing will be good to go. Were also dooing a small landing for the back deck, but thats pretty easy stuff and sholdent take more than a few hours.
One last little detail I'm hesitant to mention is that I'm going to be talking to Orren about doing staff this year. I was sspoed to talk to him last weekend but we ran short on time and I never got a chance to sit down with him.
As leery as I am about the commitment, this is my 5th year now and I feel even though I am no expert at all about the religions praticed here, I do care greatly about the farm and want to have a more active role in it. I regret tha tI spent so much time away last year.
and.. thats about it.. see ywa'll next month :>
