Holy crap I'm white an nerdy!
Well today I finally had the time, weather, and motivation to put up the new antenna.
Our previous antenna was a decade old Ringo ranger 2 mounted no more than 12 feet high.
To replace it I secured a brand new Comet GP-15
and the necessary goodies to mount it up on the chimney; 40 feet up.
It all went pretty uneventfuly and I managned to not die.

Performance is considerably better and I was able to work stations over 50 miles away at a mere 5 watts.
