WOOD!

Well all is going well enough in the land of the wood. I got my big saw back yesterday from the husky dealer. He did a bit of work and got it runnign decent. The only caviot is that the side cover is not the correct side and as such when I went to mill a log with it today the saw had no guts and the side was smoking like a mofo. Short story, the chain break is dragging. So, I ordered a new side to fit my saw... 80 bucks. ouch!

So far my cheap saw has soaked me for almost 400 bucks all total.

I eneded up getitng a smaller saw when I ws up at the farm last weekend. I picked up a Husky 345 at Lowes while we were up there.

It's a great little saw, especialy for only 260 bucks. It puts out 3.1 horses and has had no problems with what I've thrown at it's 16" bar an chain. For limbing and cutting firewood this saw is perfect.

For the big 288 I got a 24" sprocket nose bar and matching chain with full skip. It's a mofo and just tears though the wood with it on. though with 6 horses behind it.. it should. I don't really use this much though since the smaller saw can handle most things I throw at it.

All in all I'm pretty happy with my setup now. I think the only thing I want to find would be another big saw and a 36" bar for it so I dont have to pull my 288 off the mill when I need to tackle something big.

Oooh, and I need a trailer. Badly. I have more logs than I can mill! bwtween the site up the road from me and the development across town I'm looking at over 30 logs to mill. All ranging from 12 inches up to 36".
