So, I got registered for class yesterday, got my new Dl, and Reuped my CPR.

After I got done with CPR I decided to drop by and see Firefox. Well he was asleep, but [profile] xavier_fox was around. Long story short, one thing led to another and well.. yeah.. It was pretty satisfying until his girlfriend stopped by and wanted to watch. But all and all, we had a great time and it was very filling.

House work, literally.

Hearing and smelling a chain saw run inside your house is a very surreal sensation. I got the entire ceiling of the basement bedroom demoed tonight. There is a tiny biy more metal lath to pull down, and then just the chimney area. So, that room is just about to get crossed off the list.

The front bedroom has about 20% and the ceiling left. The middle room has roughly the same. The back bedroom has metal lath up to chest height all the way around, so that will slow me down when I start pulling it out. I got half the ceiling down in the back bedroom and about 50% on the walls right now. Aside from that the rest of the house is still waiting to be demoed.

The dumpster will be here tomorrow, and all the debris will finally be out from under foot. I think I'm going to spend most of the day getting stuff into the dumpster before I go back to demoing so I will have a relatively clean area to work in. Once all the second floor and the attic are done I will clean and vacuum everything before I move my things up there to store for now.

With the first floor mostly empty I'm going to demo the living and dining rooms first and get them somewhat clean so I can move to the temp kitchen in the dining room and then demo out the kitchen.

With all that done I should be in a position to vacuum out the whole house one last time and then the real fun can finally begin.

The Comcast guy showed up today. I have the interweb again. I think I freaked him out, he saw the house half gutted and was like.. Zuah? That and he could not wrap his mind around the fact that I have no intrest int he existing cable lines. just hook up my damn modem in the basement where I told you to and leave me a alone. The poorly ran, stapled to the outside of my house, RG-59 is NOT suitable for satalite or any other real video applications over it. so, yeah, stfu and just give me my internetz!.

/rant

Aside from that, the demo has slowed to a crawl. I'm waiting on respirator cartridges and tyvek bunny suits to come in the mail until I will deal with the inch thick layer of soot sitting above the ceilings. Not to mention the 70's plaster down stairs and the stick down tiles may contain asbestos, so I'm not taking any chances on it.

So thats my fun. I'll make a real update later once the craigslist guy drops off my new 90gal tank ;>

Do you ever have the desire to share your thoughts and feelings with those you care about, but the action of doing it becomes overwhelming? I have so many times a week that I would just love to share my thoughts and feelings with my friends, but either being at work or just the act of taking the time to things out stop me cold in my tracks.

Either way, I have news...

I bought a house!!!!!

I now officially own my own home in the lovely 24th ward of Pittsburgh, more commonly known as Troy Hill. A charming little row house that over looks downtown it offers 3 bedrooms a spacious backyard (as far as in the city goes), and a two car garage. And it's all mine!

My plans including gutting it, restoring the floors and original woodwork while updating the vitals and modernizing the house.

As far as moving plans go, I'll be getting a truck and trailer the 4th and loading it up that day before taking off for pitt that night of friday morning. Unloading, returning the truck and then a quick shower before the festivities of WPAFW kick off around 6ish.

So, thats my fun. Comments are love :>

Hey all! This is [livejournal.com profile] felix_j, posting on Fox's behalf. As I type this, he's on his way to Pittsburgh, and should be there shortly.

Fox bought another Rabbit from a local VW specialist/junkyard, and had the joy of transporting it to Pittsburgh today. The car has been sitting in the boneyard long enough to have moss growing on it, but it has quite a few unique/necessary parts. One problem with transporting it, though: The rear axle mounts had rusted away, and the rear axle assembly was literally supported by 2x4s, tow straps, and miscellaneous hardware. And, Fox was towing it with a single-axle dolly. Naturally, we couldn't resist taking pictures:

Great googly moogly, an update!

Well much has transpired as of late. Much.

For the last 2 weeks my life has been almost nothing other than the house, the move, an work.

Work has been it's usual life sucking self, more so than usual with having to constantly be fixing screwup's of the new people.

What time I haven't been at work I've been working on getting the house ready, both paperwork wise as well as physically to pass the FHA's requirements.

Last week I drove up Sunday morning right after getting off work that Saturday night. I loaded up my truck with boxes and managed to get there around 9/10am on Sunday.

When I got there Firefox was not there and had gone on back to his place to nap until I got in to town. Being as I had no keys I picked the locks and was in in under 2 minutes. Bc had had my good locks re keyed by some moron who screwed em up so they put walmart cheapos on. I don't think I have ever picked a house lock so fast as these junk locks.

Either way I got in, called fire and dobe to get them headed over. I crashed out on the couch while I waited for em. Oncer they got in I took em both to breakfast before we hit construction junction for some supplies. Sadly CJ failed me on Sunday for the glass blocks I needed for the window in the basement. I did get 4 4 tube florescent fixtures for 2 bux each so it was an ok trip.

After that most of the rest of the week was a total blur. Fire and i worked like slaves in our quest to get the house ready in time to have the appraisor look the place over again. All in all, we scraped pain in every single room, painted the chips on the trim throughout, did a glass block window, painted the middle room orange and red and the back room grey and navy as well as repairing several big holes in the walls an also the soffit. My favorite part of the weekend was standing 25 something feet up on a ladder wrapping high voltage lines in duct tape.

In the end the appraiser was thrilled and passed it quite happily.

Over the course of the weekend Lilpup and Goliath helped out a bit, but the real star of the show was Firefox. I could absolutely not have gotten all of it done in time alone and for his help I'm exceedingly grateful.

With all the physical stuff done I've been working on the house papers. A lot has come together in this last week and I will be closing on /my house/ next Wednesday.

For my trip up I'll be bringing my parts/possible project rabbit. A 79 brown 4 door I scored for 200 bucks at CJBuggs in Fishersville. I will be picking up the dolly monday afternoon and then the car before I head on up to pgh with my car and truck stuffed to the gills with as much as I can fit.

The trip back I'll be borrowing the company's trailer form pup and will return with it and my truck the weekend of WPAFW. We can unload the stuff into my newly roofed garage and also drop my truck off up there. I'll ride back with Felix and from there I'll spend the last week working before my rabbit and I head on up to PGH with the last few little things and the clothes I kept out.

So. in a nutshell it is all coming together. I'm going insane I thinkg, but it is all finally almost done; and I cant fucking wait!

Well, I figure enough people know at this point that it's probably going to be common knowledge soon enough anyway.

I'm moving back to Pittsburgh. I've decided to buy my old place from wolfcub. If things work out as planned I will be moving up around the first of sept, and felix will follow a few weeks after.

I'm looking to get a renovation mortgage and gut the house. I'm going to do insulation, central heat an air, new electric through, and drywall. At that point the place should be pretty dang decent.

But more information will follow as things develop.

squee!
First the good. We are here, room 2007.

The bad. Well sorta.  I do not have a crib to expo.

I worked though the entire night and have put in a ton of work on it over the last week, but it wasent enough. At noon on wed (2 hours after we were susposed to leave)I discovered that I somehow got hot rolled steel. The hot rolled steel has too much spring to it and is unsuitable for the gate rails. It flops around too much and has no real ridigdity. So basicly with none of the finish sanding done or the right steel to rectifty the problem I decided to cut my losses and just get cleaned up and fi the crib when we get back. Lil pup already wants it so I'm not worried about moving it, though I would have really liked to show off just how amazingly sturdy it is. with the gates in there was basicly no movement in the structure.

So, either way. it turned out to be a decent day

Thanks everyone that wished me a happy birthday and joined me for dinner out today!

Well it was an awesome weekend up at 4Quaters. Felix and I went up for Beltane at our new site with wolf, caddy, kit, and chrono.

In general it was a very good weekend. the weatehr played nice and though it was unseasonably cool at night it did not rail all weekend and thats more than fine enough for me.

This was my first festivle as staff and I think it went pretty well, though I feel once I'm more comfortable I will do more and have a etter idea of what needs to eb done.

Secondly I stepted up to volunteer as fire tender and lear the ways of ritual fire tending. I've been wanting to do it for about 4 years now but never felt like it was my place to say anything.. that wasn't the case though I'm still very glad I got the chance to volunteer.

So.. the next farm event for me will the the green festivle.. I got roped into it, but whatever.. it allows me to push for the cables and adapters I want. Also its Kitts bachlors party weekend.

so.. yeah, I'm tired, this update is disjointed, but meh, whatever :>

Stop reading now. This is another entery about my woodworking and as previous as shown no one will read it.

Either way, I'm excedingly excited today. Last night Felix and I did a little cleaning of the hallway and shop area. In the process I ended up moving my jointer to a new spot where my "supplies" used to live and now have a lot more room over by my table saw.

I was looking through my plans after it was all moved since I wanted ideas for a fold down finishing station that could stoe over the jointer.

In my search I cam across plans for a very sturdy, traditional bench that just so happens to pivot on steel rod, allowing it to be solid and sturdy but fold against the wall.

I'm going to build it I think. It is perfect for my purposes, and having a fold down bench will remove the temptation to just pile crap on it. Additionaly I can add a lumber rack over it or some more storage for tools and so forth.

In the end my old store disply table that has been forced to be a bench well get moved to the back porch and have a few sheets of 3/4 plywood laminated to the top and my machinest vice will get installed there. It will give me a good plave to do metal work and car stuff without dragging it into my wood shop.

Also getting red of the fixed table will free up a bunch of room behind my saw, and with the jointer moved I can pretty comfortable use my table saw, even with long or wide wood. WOOT!

So.. now I'm just waiting on the lumper supplier to get back to me on if they can get the douglas fir I need to make this sucka.

I'm going with douglas fir since it is hard and heavy, on par with maple bt at a fraction of the price.

So that is all.. other stuff happened but like the fag I am, I'm obsessed with wood!

So. I went to school today like any other monday really. I didn't get shot; though thanks to thoes that called an asked (not even my school :>).

I moved a shelf into the hall closet and moved my.. supplies.. onto it. It made a huge bunch of room in my workshop and I'm really digging it. I just need to sort the crap out further and then I will have a much more functionable shot. The space is cramped, but with careful design an consideration I can make it work out.

I'm about to finally type out my research paper, and then try an think of a topic for my last paper/presentation for english comp.

Right now I'm sitting in a bath on my laptop, and I must say.. computing while wet feels so very naughty :>

Tomorrow I have work, but I'm not closing. I'm going to finish my paper today an tomorrow. Maybe I will get more work on the futon done.
I have all the rails cut for it, and all of the slats for the back side. All total I have about 40 more parts to cut before I can begin shaping and doing the glueup.

Since we rearranged the living room there is now a ton more room and the layout is much more natural than the old way. I really like how it is setup now.

Aside from that I don't know too much. Beltane is exceddingly close, and while I'm looking foward to it I'm still up in the air sicne Orren never got back to me about staffing.

Either way, thats about it.

Do you ever look back upon the life you have lived? The friend you knew, the experiences you have had. Everything that has happened to you, and perhaps will never come again, Do you hold yourself up to those that are and were around you at the time? Do you use them as a ruler to measure the worth of your own experiences?

What is you could go back? How would it all be different? Would we still be friends? Would we not have gone our separate ways. Would you still be alive right now?

I just feel like updating!

Oddly enough I was idly thinking about stuff, life, and other random topics in general while I was showering tonight.

Thinking back, I might have had a rough childhood, and never really had everything I ever wanted, but my mother was the most amazing person in my life, and still is. She struggled to give me everything she could, both emotionaly and physicaly. She is truely a great woman, and I love her so very much for everything she did. She was the number one reason I did not commit sucide when I was in my late teens.

I know it's kinda random, but just thinking back got me remembering all the little things she did to make my life that much better. I can't wait to see her again when I go back in May.

so yeah.. thats all you get. I'll mention the frunature moving and goodness tomorrow after I have my paper done.

If anyone from the York house sees this and talkes to Eric or anyone that went to the Farm this weeked, please let em know I'm alive and so forth.

The relativly simple act of picking up the free logs turned into a major disaster today and I just got home, bruised, bleeding, and soaked in dust and sweat.

I'm really sorry if anyone was counting on me this weekend. I feel really bad about not comming up, but the trailer rental is 50 bucks a day, I really did not want to pay and have to abort everything, and have to pay to get it again.
